Best Time to Visit
Best time to visit. Least rainfall, lower humidity. Chinese New Year (Jan/Feb) adds festivity. Great for Gardens by the Bay and outdoor dining.
Hot and humid with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Great Shopping Sale runs June-August. Singapore Food Festival in July. Plan indoor activities during midday.
National Day (9 Aug) brings impressive fireworks and parades. Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in September is a major event. Still warm and humid.
Northeast monsoon season, wetter but still warm. Christmas decorations along Orchard Road are impressive. Deepavali (Oct/Nov) lights up Little India.
Top Things to Do
Gardens by the Bay
Futuristic Supertrees, the striking Cloud Forest (cool mist, 35m indoor waterfall), and the Flower Dome. The nightly Supertree light show at 7:45pm and 8:45pm is free.
Marina Bay Sands
The iconic three-tower hotel with the rooftop infinity pool. Non-guests can visit the SkyPark observation deck (S$32). The view of Singapore's skyline at night is worth seeing.
Hawker Centres
Singapore's UNESCO-listed hawker culture. Lau Pa Sat, Maxwell Food Centre, and Tiong Bahru Market serve excellent chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow, and chilli crab for S$5-10.
Sentosa Island
Singapore's resort island. Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, beach clubs, and cable cars. Good for families and a full day out. 15 minutes from the CBD.
Chinatown & Little India
Two of Singapore's most lively ethnic enclaves. Chinatown's Sri Mariamman Temple, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and night market. Little India's Mustafa Centre never closes.
Singapore Zoo & Night Safari
Ranked among the world's top zoos. The Night Safari is unique, tram and walking trails through a nocturnal animal park after dark. Book the Night Safari tickets in advance.
Orchard Road Shopping
Singapore's famous 2.2km shopping strip. Ion Orchard, Takashimaya, Paragon, and 20+ malls packed with every brand imaginable. Tax refunds available for tourists.
Singapore Botanic Gardens
A UNESCO World Heritage tropical garden in the centre of the city. Free entry (except the National Orchid Garden). Good for morning walks, picnics, and the Symphony Lake concerts.
