Best Time to Visit
Warm days, blooming parks, and outdoor beer gardens opening up. May is the sweet spot, comfortable temperatures and pre-summer crowds.
Peak tourist season. Long days, music festivals, outdoor markets. Munich and Berlin are buzzing. Book accommodation well in advance.
Oktoberfest (late Sep – early Oct) draws millions to Munich. Autumn foliage is striking in the Bavarian Alps and Rhine Valley.

Brandenburg Gate, Berlin
Germany's most iconic landmark and symbol of reunification. At the centre of Berlin with the Holocaust Memorial and Reichstag all within walking distance.
Oktoberfest, Munich
The world's largest folk festival. 6 million litres of beer, giant pretzels, traditional Bavarian dress, and the best atmosphere you'll ever experience. Late Sep – early Oct.
Rhine Valley
A UNESCO World Heritage river valley lined with medieval castles, terraced vineyards, and charming villages. Best explored by boat or bike between Bingen and Koblenz.
Berlin Wall Memorial
The preserved stretch of the Berlin Wall with the East Side Gallery, 1.3 km of murals painted by international artists. A powerful, open-air museum.
Black Forest
Dense pine forests, cuckoo clocks, cherry cake, and the source of the Danube. The village of Triberg has Germany's highest waterfall and the best Black Forest cake.
Cologne Cathedral
Germany's most visited landmark. This Gothic masterpiece took 632 years to build and dominates the Cologne skyline. Climb the 533 steps to the south tower for panoramic views.
Bavarian Alps
Excellent skiing in winter, hiking and cycling in summer. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the base. Zugspitze is Germany's highest peak at 2,962m.
